Medicare Benefit: Resources
The National Eye Institute (NEI) has developed materials you can use to promote the Medicare benefit that can help detect glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. People eligible for this benefit include:
  • African Americans age 50 and older
  • People with a family history of glaucoma
  • People with diabetes
  • Hispanics age 65 and older
Use the resources below to educate others about the Medicare benefit. You can also let other professionals know about the availability of the Medicare cards so they can use them in their community.

Medicare Benefit Card: Glaucoma & Diabetic Eye Disease

This promotional card was developed by the National Eye Institute with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to promote the glaucoma and diabetic eye disease benefits under Medicare. These colorful, two-sided cards include information about benefit eligibility and where to find more information. They can be distributed at health fairs, clinics, meal sites, senior centers, and other community locations.

Promote the Availability of the Postcards!

Let others know about the availability of the Medicare Benefit postcards! Use the following print public service announcements (PSAs) which can be downloaded for use in newspapers, newsletters, and other print and online publications. Low-resolution (150 DPI) files are appropriate for Web pages, while high-resolution (300 DPI) files are appropriate for professionally printed magazines and other publications.

  • People with diabetes
  • Those with a family history of glaucoma
  • African Americans age 50 or older
  • Hispanics age 65 or older
