About this Database

This database contains information on clinical studies, both ongoing and completed, that have been conducted and supported by the National Eye Institute (NEI) since 1970. The database:

• Provides sight-saving results of clinical trials to be used by eye health professionals when treating patients
• Informs eye health professionals, other health care providers, and the public about past and present NEI-supported clinical studies
• Alerts practitioners to the clinical studies recruiting patients so that they can refer eligible patients to those studies
• Informs the public about clinical studies and encourages them to participate
