Thank you for your generous offer to volunteer. The National Eye Institute (NEI), part of the National Institutes of Health, leads the federal government’s research on the visual system and eye diseases. NEI supports basic and clinical science programs that result in the development of sight-saving treatments.
NEI is a government agency in Bethesda, Maryland. Volunteer opportunities are handled by NIH central. Some volunteers participate in research or give time to the NIH Clinical Center or the NIH Children’s Inn. For information please see http://ocl.od.nih.gov/volunteer.asp.
The NEI Eye Health Organizations Database is a tool that can help you find sources of eye health-related organizations. You may want to contact one of these organizations about their volunteer opportunities.
