We have established an ocular orthotopic xenograft model for ocular VHL (Park and Chan. Histol Histopathol 2012). Human VHL cells are inoculated into the vitreous of SCID mouse. After 2-3 weeks, the VHL cells often settle behind the lens, in the vitreous and on the retinal surface. The tumor cells may form cystic structure and express VEGF.
