Learn about the National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP)
For more than 20 years, NEHEP has helped health professionals raise awareness about the importance of eye health.

May is Healthy Vision Month!
This year, NEI is highlighting the importance of eye health for the whole family! Spread the word about steps families can take to protect their vision — with materials in both English and Spanish.
Resources by Topic
NEHEP has developed comprehensive sets of materials and resources to help health educators reach populations who are at higher risk for eye disease and vision loss.
Eye conditions

Glaucoma
Glaucoma usually has no warning signs — and half of the people who have it don’t know it. Spread the word about how early treatment can stop the damage and help prevent vision loss.

Diabetic eye disease
Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in working-age adults. The good news is that regular eye exams can find problems early, when they're easier to treat.
Audiences

Older adults
The risk of eye disease gets higher as people age, but it’s not inevitable. Help older adults in your community learn how to protect their vision.

African Americans
Our Write the Vision program stresses the importance of regular eye exams for African Americans, who are at higher risk of eye diseases that cause vision loss.

Hispanics/Latinos
Our program ¡Ojo con su visión! (Watch out for your vision!) offers culturally-appropriate materials about eye health for Hispanic/Latinos audiences — including many materials in Spanish.

People who may benefit from vision rehabilitation
Vision rehabilitation services can help people with vision impairment protect their remaining sight and stay independent.
Healthy vision

Eye health and safety
Our Healthy Vision toolkit includes resources that encourage people to learn about protecting their vision.

Explore NEI’s virtual reality (VR) eye disease experience
With our “See What I See” VR app, you can see what it’s like to experience vision loss from common eye diseases — including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts.

We have hundreds of printable fact sheets, handouts, and other materials on eye health and specific diseases and conditions.
