Happy New Year! As we get set to embark on a new year together, we would like to thank all the National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) Partnership organizations that collaborated with us last year. NEHEP relies on its partners around the country to help spread its messages and disseminate information in a meaningful, tailored, and actionable way to people at higher risk for eye disease, health and community professionals, and people living with vision loss and their family and friends.
This past year, the partnership was instrumental in sharing information via social media, newsletters, and websites; disseminating NEHEP materials and messaging during community outreach activities; reviewing content to make sure we’re reaching the target audiences you serve in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner; and celebrating national eye health observances, among many other activities. Your efforts in 2017 helped NEHEP reach millions of Americans with eye health information through traditional and social media alone.
2018 promises to be just as exciting. After months of preparation, the National Eye Institute’s (NEI) big celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2018 is here! Also, in January we celebrated Glaucoma Awareness Month, and we want to thank everyone who helped share information with people at higher risk for glaucoma about steps they can take to protect their sight. Big thanks also to those individuals who helped share information about diabetic eye disease and participated in our Twitter chat during National Diabetes Month in November.
Please contact us to let us know about your work in raising eye health awareness and any unique initiatives your organization is doing to reach populations at higher risk. We would especially appreciate comments on how you use NEHEP materials and how we can better support your eye health education efforts. As always, we look forward to hearing from you. Here’s to a fantastic 2018!
