NEI’s National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) offers disease- and audience-specific programs for health educators. Through the NEHEP Partnership, NEI works with over 60 national partner organizations to support eye health education programs.

American Academy of Ophthalmology

Mission: The American Academy of Ophthalmology’s mission is to protect sight and empower lives by:

American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA)

Mission: AAPA leads the physician associate profession and empowers members to advance their careers and improve patient health.

They work to transform health through patient-centered, team-based medical practice.

American Diabetes Association (ADA)

Mission: The ADA’s mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

They do this by:

  • Funding research to prevent, cure, and manage diabetes
  • Delivering services to hundreds of communities
  • Providing objective and credible information
  • Giving voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes

American Heart Association (AHA)

Mission: AHA’s mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

They fight heart disease and stroke by investing in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular research.

American Optometric Association (AOA)

Mission: AOA advocates for the optometric profession and helps optometrists meet their patients’ eye care needs.

They do this by providing advocacy, professional development, practice management tools, and more.

American Pharmacists Association (APhA)

Mission: As the voice of pharmacy, APhA leads the profession and equips members to be medication experts in team-based, patient-centered care.

They do this by advocating for pharmacists in their workplace and providing professional development, resources, and networking opportunities.

American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)

Mission: ASHP helps pharmacists by advocating and supporting the professional practice of pharmacists in hospitals, health systems, ambulatory care clinics, and other settings where medications are used.

ASHP serves its members as their collective voice on issues related to medication use and public health.

American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN)

Mission: ASORN’s mission is to foster excellence in ophthalmic patient care while supporting the ophthalmic team through individual development, education, and evidence-based practice.

American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS)

Mission: The mission of ASRS is to:

  • Provide a collegial and open forum for education
  • Advance the understanding and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases
  • Support its members to provide the highest quality of patient care

Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO)

Mission: ARVO advances worldwide research into understanding the visual system and preventing, treating, and curing its disorders.

Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES)

Mission: ADCES’ mission is to empower diabetes care and education specialists to expand the horizons of innovative education, management, and support.

Their vision is optimal health and quality of life for people with, affected by, or at risk for diabetes and chronic conditions.

Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO)

Mission: ASCO advances optometric education and research to enhance the health and well-being of the public.

They do this by organizing education, research, advocacy, and development activities in the field of optometry.

BlackDoctor.org (BDO)

Mission: BDO is a comprehensive online health resource specifically for African American people.

BDO leverages culture, content, and technology to transform people’s lives for the better and shares culturally relevant tips and strategies on health, wellness, lifestyle, and longevity.

Center For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vision Health Initiative

Mission: The CDC Vision Health Initiative promotes vision health and quality of life for everyone throughout all life stages.

They do this by preventing and controlling eye disease, eye injury, and vision loss resulting in disability.

Children's Eye Foundation of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS)

Mission: The mission of Children’s Eye Foundation of AAPOS is to end preventable vision loss in children and improve the lives of visually impaired children worldwide.

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Mission: VA’s mission is to serve and honor the people who are America’s Veterans.

Their vision is to provide Veterans the world-class benefits and services they have earned — and to do so by adhering to the highest standards of compassion, commitment, excellence, professionalism, integrity, accountability, and stewardship.

Helen Keller International

Mission: Guided by Helen Keller’s remarkable legacy, Helen Keller International partners with communities that are striving to overcome longstanding cycles of poverty.

By delivering the essential building blocks of good health, sound nutrition, and clear vision, they help millions of people create lasting change in their own lives.

Indian Health Service (IHS)

Mission: IHS’ mission is to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Natives to the highest level.

International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO)

Mission: IJCAHPO’s mission is to promote global eye health and prevent blindness through:

  • Accrediting training programs
  • Providing education
  • Certifying Allied Ophthalmic Personnel

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
