NEI’s National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) offers disease- and audience-specific programs for health educators. Through the NEHEP Partnership, NEI works with over 60 national partner organizations to support eye health education programs.

Administration for Community Living (ACL)

Mission: ACL is the principal federal agency that carries out the provisions of the Older Americans Act.  

They work to promote the wellbeing of older adults by providing services and programs to help them live independently in their homes and communities. 

American Academy of Ophthalmology

Mission: The American Academy of Ophthalmology’s mission is to protect sight and empower lives by:

  • Advocating for patients and the public 
  • Leading ophthalmic education
  • Advancing the profession of ophthalmology 

American Foundation for the Blind (AFB)

Mission: AFB’s mission is to create a world of no limits for people who are blind or visually impaired.

They mobilize leaders, advance understanding, and champion impactful policies and practices using research and data.

American Optometric Association (AOA)

Mission: AOA advocates for the optometric profession and helps optometrists meet their patients’ eye care needs.

They do this by providing advocacy, professional development, practice management tools, and more.

American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN)

Mission: ASORN’s mission is to foster excellence in ophthalmic patient care while supporting the ophthalmic team through individual development, education, and evidence-based practice.

American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS)

Mission: The mission of ASRS is to:

  • Provide a collegial and open forum for education
  • Advance the understanding and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases
  • Support its members to provide the highest quality of patient care

Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO)

Mission: ARVO advances worldwide research into understanding the visual system and preventing, treating, and curing its disorders.

Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO)

Mission: ASCO advances optometric education and research to enhance the health and well-being of the public.

They do this by organizing education, research, advocacy, and development activities in the field of optometry.

BrightFocus Foundation

Mission: BrightFocus funds exceptional scientific research worldwide to defeat Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma — and provides expert information on these serious diseases.

Center For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vision Health Initiative

Mission: The CDC Vision Health Initiative promotes vision health and quality of life for everyone throughout all life stages.

They do this by preventing and controlling eye disease, eye injury, and vision loss resulting in disability.

International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO)

Mission: IJCAHPO’s mission is to promote global eye health and prevent blindness through:

  • Accrediting training programs
  • Providing education
  • Certifying Allied Ophthalmic Personnel

Lighthouse Guild

Mission: Lighthouse Guild’s mission is to provide exceptional services that inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals.

Their vision is to create a world where no one is limited by their visual capacity.

Lions Clubs International

Mission: Lions Clubs International’s mission is to empower Lions clubs, volunteers, and partners to:

  • Improve health and well-being
  • Strengthen communities
  • Support those in need

Macular Degeneration Partnership (MDP)

Mission: MDP’s mission is to provide information and daily living tips for individuals with age-related macular degeneration. MDP is a program of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at UC Irvine Health.

National Association for Hispanic Elderly/Asociación Nacional Pro Personas Mayores (ANPPM)

Mission: ANPPM’s mission is to achieve social change by focusing on the needs of low-income minority and older Hispanic people — thus impacting the Hispanic community and the nation as a whole. 

National Association of Area Agencies on Aging

Mission: The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging advocates for the Title VI Native American Aging Programs that help older adults and people with disabilities live with optimal health, well-being, independence, and dignity in their homes and communities. 

National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD)

Mission: NACDD improves the health of the public by strengthening state and national leadership and expertise for chronic disease prevention and control.

NACDD promotes social justice and well-being so that communities can build healthier futures.

National Caucus and Center of Black Aging, Inc. (NCBA)

Mission: NCBA helps protect and improve the quality of life for elderly populations.

They make certain that legislators, policymakers, philanthropists, advocacy groups, service organizations, thought leaders, and the public-at-large include minority seniors in their programs, policy- and law-making, and giving.

National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA)

Mission: NCPA protects and promotes the interests of independent pharmacists whose current and future success is vital to their patients, their communities, and the entire health care system.

National Council on Aging (NCOA)

Mission: NCOA’s mission is to improve the lives of millions of older adults, especially those who are struggling.

Their goal is to impact the health and economic security of 40 million older adults by 2030, especially women, people of color, and LGBTQ+, low-income, and rural people.
