NEI’s National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) offers disease- and audience-specific programs for health educators. Through the NEHEP Partnership, NEI works with over 60 national partner organizations to support eye health education programs.

American Academy of Optometry

Mission: The American Academy of Optometry:

  • Provides quality optometry education
  • Supports research
  • Shares knowledge to advance optometric practice and improve patient care

American Glaucoma Society (AGS)

Mission: AGS is made up of glaucoma specialists dedicated to sharing clinical and scientific information for the benefit of patients, colleagues, fellows, and residents.

AGS engages all professionals involved in glaucoma care through programs, education, research, and knowledge sharing.

American Optometric Association (AOA)

Mission: AOA advocates for the optometric profession and helps optometrists meet their patients’ eye care needs.

They do this by providing advocacy, professional development, practice management tools, and more.

American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)

Mission: ASHP helps pharmacists by advocating and supporting the professional practice of pharmacists in hospitals, health systems, ambulatory care clinics, and other settings where medications are used.

ASHP serves its members as their collective voice on issues related to medication use and public health.

American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN)

Mission: ASORN’s mission is to foster excellence in ophthalmic patient care while supporting the ophthalmic team through individual development, education, and evidence-based practice.

Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO)

Mission: ARVO advances worldwide research into understanding the visual system and preventing, treating, and curing its disorders.

Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO)

Mission: ASCO advances optometric education and research to enhance the health and well-being of the public.

They do this by organizing education, research, advocacy, and development activities in the field of optometry.

BlackDoctor.org (BDO)

Mission: BDO is a comprehensive online health resource specifically for African American people.

BDO leverages culture, content, and technology to transform people’s lives for the better and shares culturally relevant tips and strategies on health, wellness, lifestyle, and longevity.

BrightFocus Foundation

Mission: BrightFocus funds exceptional scientific research worldwide to defeat Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma — and provides expert information on these serious diseases.

Center For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Vision Health Initiative

Mission: The CDC Vision Health Initiative promotes vision health and quality of life for everyone throughout all life stages.

They do this by preventing and controlling eye disease, eye injury, and vision loss resulting in disability.

Children's Eye Foundation of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS)

Mission: The mission of Children’s Eye Foundation of AAPOS is to end preventable vision loss in children and improve the lives of visually impaired children worldwide.

Glaucoma Research Foundation

Mission: The Glaucoma Research Foundation’s mission is to cure glaucoma and restore vision through innovative science.

They fund glaucoma research worldwide and empower a global community affected by the second leading cause of blindness.

International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO)

Mission: IJCAHPO’s mission is to promote global eye health and prevent blindness through:

  • Accrediting training programs
  • Providing education
  • Certifying Allied Ophthalmic Personnel

Lighthouse Guild

Mission: Lighthouse Guild’s mission is to provide exceptional services that inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals.

Their vision is to create a world where no one is limited by their visual capacity.

National Caucus and Center of Black Aging, Inc. (NCBA)

Mission: NCBA helps protect and improve the quality of life for elderly populations.

They make certain that legislators, policymakers, philanthropists, advocacy groups, service organizations, thought leaders, and the public-at-large include minority seniors in their programs, policy- and law-making, and giving.

National Council on Aging (NCOA)

Mission: NCOA’s mission is to improve the lives of millions of older adults, especially those who are struggling.

Their goal is to impact the health and economic security of 40 million older adults by 2030, especially women, people of color, and LGBTQ+, low-income, and rural people.

National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)

Mission: NIDDK’s mission is to conduct and support medical research and research training.

They improve people’s health and quality of life by sharing science-based information on diabetes, digestive and kidney diseases, and other related conditions.

National Institute on Aging (NIA)

Mission: NIA’s ongoing mission is to support and conduct research on aging and foster the development of research and clinician scientists in aging. They share information about aging and advances in research with the public and professional audiences.

National Medical Association (NMA)

Mission: NMA’s mission is to advance the art and science of medicine for people of African descent through education, advocacy, and health policy.

They promote health and wellness, eliminate health disparities, and sustain physician viability.
