As people age, they may notice changes to their vision, such as needing glasses to see up close or needing more light to see well. However, vision loss is not a normal part of aging. Dry eye occurs when the eye does not produce tears properly or when the tears evaporate too quickly. It is more common among women and older adults, and can be treated with artificial tears, gels, gel inserts, and ointments.
