Postdoctoral Fellowships in Vision Repair & Health

Are you passionate about innovative, high-impact research? Are you curious about how genetic and epigenetic variation shapes development, aging, and disease?

The laboratory of Dr. Anand Swaroop at the National Eye Institute (NEI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), is seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to join a collaborative and multidisciplinary research team.

Our research addresses fundamental and translational questions related to retinal development, function, aging, and disease. Current openings may focus on:

  • Chromatin and RNA biology, gene regulation and signaling mechanisms in retinal development, aging, and neurodegeneration
  • Structural biology, network-based approaches, and computational design for therapeutic discovery

These studies integrate multi-omic and single-cell technologies, organoid systems, synthetic and structural biology, and computational approaches to uncover novel biological mechanisms and therapeutic strategies. Relevant work from the laboratory can be found on PubMed (PMIDs: 30742112, 36207300, 36975211, 37153444, 39954235, 40047526).

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in any field of biology, chemistry or computational biology (degree awarded after June 2024)
  • Strong interest in innovative basic or translational research
  • Prior experience in retina or vision science is not required

Why Join Us?

  • Conduct cutting-edge research at the NIH, the world’s leading biomedical research institution
  • Collaborate with experts in genetics, neuroscience, and bioinformatics
  • Access exceptional research resources, mentorship, and career development opportunities
  • Competitive annual stipend, commensurate with experience and NIH guidelines
